Gallishaw Middle School

The Gallishaw Middle School is a 205-day educational/therapeutic program for students in grades 6-8 whose social, emotional and/or learning challenges have prevented success in a regular education setting. The immediate objective is to provide an academic program of core curriculum subjects aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks in a self-contained educational climate adapted to the special needs of its students. All students are provided with clinical support, modified curriculum, and positive behavior intervention supports in order to meet their academic and social/emotional needs. Students are welcomed into a positive learning community that facilitates their growth both individually and collectively. Our mission is to provide a therapeutic setting that will help prepare each student for the vigorous demands that will be placed on them upon entering high school. The two Gallishaw Middle School classrooms have an average enrollment of 7-10 students and students are supported with a 1:3 staff-to-student ratio.
