Assistive Technology

Many students need Assistive Technology to facilitate access to the curriculum and increase independence. These supports may include hardware, software, adaptive equipment, low-tech supports, and/or recommendations for staff training or curriculum modification. SCEC offers a variety of Assistive Technology services to assist students, faculty and school districts. These supports are available within SCEC programs and also to member and participating districts.

SCEC Assistive Technology providers are available to provide a range of services, including:

  • Student Screenings and Evaluations
  • Consult services for students, classrooms, and programs
  • Arranging and supporting equipment trials
  • Helping IEP teams to determine the need for Assistive Technology
  • Assisting families with funding of equipment for student’s personal use
  • Connecting families and school districts with outside resources such as equipment vendors
  • Staff training to support implementation of student-specific equipment and supports
